V₂O₅/SiO₂ catalysts showed good activity in the selective removal of H₂S in the presence of ammonia and water. H₂S in ammonia and water vapor can be recovered as harmless solid products (elemental sulfur and various ammonium sulfates) without considerable SO₂ emission. Distribution of sulfur and salts were varied with types of catalyst and compositions of reactant.
