CAN OFFSHORE EXPERIENCE HELP IN REDUCING ONSHORE LOSSES
Norway's offshore petroleum industry has made very substantial progress within loss prevention over the last ten years. There is some basis for claiming that the industry is now a world leader in this area. At the same time, onshore Norwegian society rates poorly among the Scandinavian countries with respect to some key loss statistics. Recent application of offshore-generated know-how in a few sectors onshore has given substantial improvement. This paper suggests a model for use in systematically bringing loss prevention knowledge and progress to onshore society and to third-world countries.
