Extruded polylactide film was surface-modified by corona discharge treatment (3.5 or 10 kJ/m(2)) and studied by at. force microscopy for surface roughness immediately after treatment and after 3 mo. long storage or after washing with water. The corona discharge resulted in an increase in the surface roughness. The roughness increased with increasing the modification energy but decreased during the film storage or after washing with water.
