The polymer-matrix composites with metallic fillers for electromagnetic shielding applications
CH2=CH2/CH2=CHCOOEt, CH2=CH2/CH2=CHMeCOOEt and CH2=CHCN/CH2=CH-CH=CH2/PhCH=CH2 copolymers and a waste blend prepd. of polyethylene and polyvinyl acetate under lab. conditions were filled with Cu flakes and Ni or Ag powders and then studied for electromagnetic properties by split post dielectric resonator method. With increasing content of Cu filler, dielectric constant and electromagnetic shielding effectiveness also increased. Multilayered sandwich-type polymer composites showed an increasing shielding effectiveness along with reduced cost of manufg.
