Adsorption of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol on activated carbon from water-organic solvent solutions
2,4,6-Cl3C6H2OH (I) was adsorbed on activated C from H2O as well as from MeOH, EtOH, MeCN and their aq. solns. (2-25% by vol.) to det. kinetics and equils. of the process. I was faster adsorbed from org. solvents than from H2O. The kinetics was fitted well to the pseudo-second order reaction model. Adsorption efficiency decreased with increasing content of org. solvent in the soln. Addn. of small amts. of org. solvents (2%) did result in any significant changes of I adsorption course. The exptl isotherms were well described by the Freundlich equation.
