Bulky hexa[alkylsulfonyl] benzenes are considered to be strong pi-acceptors. They are reduced in totally irreversible processes quite unexpectedly when compared with other aromatic tri-, tetra- and pentasulfonyl benzenes. Electron transfer could favor a structural change in relation to the extreme bulkiness of these substrates.
