Effect of Underpotentially Deposited Pb, Tl, Cd and Cu Adatoms on the Oxidation of Formaldehyde at Pd
The effect of underpotentially deposited Pb, Tl, Cd and Cu on the oxidation of formaldehyde at a Pd electrode was studied. It was found that these adatoms inhibit formaldehyde oxidation since they block active sites on the electrode. Hence they prevent the formation of intermediates, which are necessary for the oxidation to occur.
