Hydrogen permeation of Y2O3-CuO-CeO2/Ni composite membrane
For the purpose of improving hydrogen permeation, Y2O3-CuO-CeO2 (YCC) mixed oxides were successfully prepared using the sol-gel method with and without oxalic acid. The obtained powder was characterized by XRD, TG/DTA, BET and FE-SEM techniques. The YCC mixed oxide with 10 wt.% Ni metal powder as a composite membrane was prepared by hot-press sintering method (HPS) with a mechanical alloying process. The hydrogen permeation test of YCC/10 wt.% Ni membrane was measured at room temperature with increasing pressure. Hydrogen permeation flux through a YCC/10 wt.% Ni membrane was obtained at 7.7 x 10(-7) mol/m(2) s. Reaction enthalpy was calculated as -1.24 J/mol using Arrhenius's plot. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V.
