Preparation, characterization and application of poly anthranilic acid-co-pyrrole
Copolymers of anthranilic acid and pyrrole (AA/PY) were synthesized by chemical and electrochemical methods. Polymers were characterized by cyclic voltammetry, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), infrared, UV-Vis, NMR and EPR techniques. The IR, NMR, and CV characterization tests implied the formation of new structure composed of both monomers. It is shown by EPR measurements that AA/PY copolymer exhibits a quasi-metallic behavior with free carriers moving along the polymeric chain and limited conductivity due to the morphology of the polymer. It is found from DSC experiments that self-doped copolymer could be synthesized by copolymerization of AA and PY monomers. PolyAA acts both as a chelating agent and a counter anion within the polypyrrole matrix. Cu+ is accumulated on the polymer modified electrode via the formation of a Cu-polyAA/PY complex without the use of applied potential. (C) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
