Use of an extinguishing powder for reducing industrial dust explosion hazards
NaHCO3-contg. extinguishing powder was added to pine wood dust, wheat flour, malt dust, corn starch and coal dust to decrease explosion hazard. The expts. were carried out in 20 dm(3) spherical vessel to det. the max. inerting explosion pressure and max. rate of the pressure rise vs. amt. of the added powder. The lowest inerting concn. of the powder was 1250 g/m(3) for wheat flour, and the highest was 2850 kg/m(3) for pine wood dust.
