Physical properties of solid fuel briquettes made from Caragana korshinskii Kom
The perennial Caragana korshinskii Kom is a potential feedstock for producing heat fuels. This study aims to investigate the influence of pressure, temperature, moisture content and particle size on the physical properties (density, durability, compressive strength and impact resistance) of C korshinskii Mom briquettes. A piston-and-mold process was used to densify the materials into briquettes. The relationship between the factor settings and the responses (physical properties) was examined by multivariate statistical analysis. Particle size was the most important factor influencing briquettes' physical properties, followed by the moisture content and temperature. Good quality briquettes could be produced in the reduced particle size, low moisture content and high temperature conditions. Pressure was of marginal importance. C korshinskii Mom can be used as a raw material in producing ecological solid fuel. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
