Na-23-NMR Relaxation in Systems of Latex and an Ionic Surfactant
Information about the dynamics of Na+ ions in systems of latex with added ionic surfactant is obtained from Na-23-NMR relaxation data, A binary mixture model was used to interpret the adsorption and micelle formation behavior of the sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate and to obtain the information about Na+ dynamics from the relaxation data, The parameters associated with the Na+ dynamics are comparable with reports on similar systems in the literature, The results show that the relaxation is caused by local movements and not by dynamics on a length or time scale associated with the size of the latex particles or micelles, The study shows that Na-23 relaxation measurements can be a valuable tool for quantifying the behavior of ionic surfactants in these complex systems.
