Adsorption of Heptanol, Heptanoic Acid, and Heptanoate Anions at Water-Air Interfaces
The surface tensions of heptanoic acid and n-heptanol aqueous solutions were measured at 20 degrees C at different pH. The obtained results indicate that preferably the nondissociated form of acid is adsorbed at the water-air interface. Adsorption of heptanoate anions occurs at much higher concentrations, and they are adsorbed less closely.
