Pulse Radiolytic Investigation on Intermicellar Transport of Hydrated Electron in Cationic Micellar Solutions of Alkyltrimethylammonium Halides
Kinetics of scavenging of hydrated electron (e(aq)(-)) by hexadecylpyridinium chloride has been studied by pulse radiolysis in cationic micellar solutions of alkyltrimethylammonium halides. The results are interpreted in terms of intermicellar transport of e(aq)(-), and the mean time parameter characterizing the process is estimated for micelles of different size and counterion. The behavior of e(aq)(-) is compared to that observed for iodide ion in fluorescence quenching experiments.
