Investigation of nano-size TiO2 powders: Structure and particle size aspects
Nano-size TiO2 powders were prepared by a homogeneous precipitation process at low temperature below 100 degrees C (HPPLT). The structure and particle sizes of these TiO2 powders were estimated by x-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) methods. The experimental results were compared with those of commercial TiO2 powders. The HPPLTed TiO2 powders were found to have a very large specific surface; the results of XRD and BET methods showed that particle size of HPPLTed TiO2 powders were similar to 10 nm. The crystallinity of nano-sizcd HPPLTed TiO2 powders was also determined by XAS.
