Bulk nanocrystalline NiAl material prepared by self-propagating high temperature synthesis casting at low external temperature
Bulk Ni3Al material was obtained by a self-propagating high temperature synthesis casting at external temperature of 280 degreesC. Thickness of the material was more than 3 mm and its grain size was less than 10 nm. The relative density was about 99%. Bending strength of the material was about 1200 MPa and its wear resistance was same to the alloyed material with micrometer grains and did not obviously change with the load. Hardness of the material was about 2.8 GPa and did not increase much. Creep was observed in the material at room temperature.
