Excess molar enthalpies and excess molar volumes of binary systems containing (xCH(3)(CH2)(7)Cl+(1-x)CH3(CH2)(n-1)OH) (n = 4 to 8) at T = 298.15 K
Excess molar enthalpies H-m(E) and excess molar volumes V-m(E) at T = 298.15 K and normal atmospheric pressure for the binary systems {xCH(3)(CH2)(7)Cl f (1 - x)CH3(CH2)(n-1)OH} (n = 4 to 8) have been determined using a Calvet microcalorimeter, and from density measurements using a vibrating-tube densimeter. The H-m(E) and V-m(E) values for all the mixtures are positive for the whole range of composition. Experimental H-m(E) results are compared with the predictions of the UNIquac Functional-Group Activity Coefficients (UNIFAC) group-contribution models considered by Dang and Tassios, and by Larsen et al. and discussed in terms of molecular interactions.
