The characterization of the plastic potential of aluminum alloys using internal variables of strain rate sensitivity, mean slip distance and mean slip velocity
The concept of simultaneously minimizing the power and rate of power dissipation for slip system selection was examined to reveal the microstructural parameters encompassed in this modelling. The material variables are the strain rate sensitivity and the stress dependence of both the mean slip distance and the evolving cell size. These parameters are highly sensitive to the chemistry of the matrix and the starting microstructure which was prescribed during prior thermo-mechanical processing.
