Characterization of high-energy ball milling of Ba hexaferrite
Ba-hexaferrites was synthesized by using high-energy ball milling process and particle size, densification and microstructure were characterized. BaFe12O19 phase was prepared from barium carbonate and iron oxide using ball to powder ratio of 10:1 and 4:1, milled for 1 and 5 hours. Pellets were sintered from 1000 to 1300 degreesC. The results show formation of large agglomerates and high densification at 1300 degreesC and a decrease in the values of coercivity and magnetization as the sintering temperature increase due to increase in grain size and phases formed in thin plates form.
