Metallographic aspects of surface-treated steels by using laser technology
Different carbide granules (TiC, NbC, WC+Co) injected in different amount in the laser-melted material have different effects on the microstructures and on mechanical properties of layers. The hardness of the layer injected with carbide particles widely varies along the track, parallel to the track and perpendicular to the surface, respective parallel to the surface. Post-hardening by laser has good effect on the layer properties.
