Preparation of tetracene single crystal : Determination of crystal orientation by electron diffraction
Tetracene single crystal was prepared by the vapor transport method. A large flat single crystal with thickness of 13 micrometers and flat area of 1cm x 1cm was obtained. The crystal orientation was determined by the x-ray and electron diffraction measurements. The surface textures of the vacuum deposited thin film and single crystal of tetracene were observed by an Atomic Force Microscope. Structure of the thin film changed slowly from amorphous to a crystalline state at room temperature. The model lattice of tetracene single crystal was built on a commercial program. Electron diffraction and x-ray diffractrion pattern were calculated within the program. The calculated electron diffraction pattern gave confirmation of 001 orientation.
