Distribution of residual strain in polycrystals: Analysis by diffraction and homogenisation techniques
Diffraction experiments provide statistical information on the strain distribution inside polycrystals. When volume measurements are carried out, diffraction data can be. compared rigorously to the prediction of homogenisation techniques. However, when the specimen has undergone inelastic deformations, less accurate nonlinear homogenisation schemes have to be used. Several formulations are proposed in the literature, each leading to a different interpretation of diffraction data.
