Miniaturization of nitinol material fabrication and processing: status and prospects
The progress in medical technology areas such as interventional procedures and minimally invasive therapies depends on new medical devices and ability to downscale their sizes to very small dimensions. In contrast to conventional materials Nitinol alloys create unique requirements for manufacturing processes. The knowledge of materials science and process engineering of Nitinol is important to ensure a full exploitation of functional device properties even at very small dimensions.
