Anomalies of magnetoelastic and magnetotransport properties at Curie point for Re1-xSrxMnO3 (Re = Sm, Nd) compounds
Magnetization, ac initial magnetic susceptibility, resistance, magnetoresistance, thermal expansion and magnetostriction measurements were performed for Re1-xSrxMnO3 (Re = Sm, Nd; x = 0.45, 0.33) compounds, For x = 0.45 (Re = Sm) sample we have observed the large volume contraction DeltaV/V approximate to0.1%, an abrupt minimum on the temperature dependence of negative volume magnetostriction omega (T) and a maximum on the temperature dependence of resistivity at Curie point T-C. We have obtained giant negative volume magnetostriction similar to5.10(-4) in a relatively low magnetic field H = 0.9 T, which is accompanied with colossal negative magnetoresistance equal to 44% in the same magnetic field. The magnetoresistance of x = 0.33 (Re = Sm) compound is still greater, it is equale to 78% in H = 0.9 T at 80 K. For Nd1-xSrxMnO3 (x = 0.45, 0.33) compounds the temperature dependencies of volume magnetostriction and thermal expansion are similar that as Sin-containing compounds, but magnetostriction value is one order of magnitude less.
