Production of Pr-Fe-Co-B magnets by blending with cobalt
The paper describes the production of sintered Pr-Fe-Co-B magnets by a powder blending process. Improved, high-energy magnets are produced by blending Pr16Fe76B8 powder with Co powder. Magnets have been produced by varying the Co content from 0 to 10 at %. Both the effectiveness of blending as a process and the variation of proper-ties by varying Co content have been investigated. The effects of heat-treatment on the magnetic properties and microstructure are also investigated. There is a general improvement in the Br- values and Curie temperature of the blended magnets but a progressive fall in H-ci with increasing Co content.
