Neutron and X-ray diffraction analyses of the influence of induction-hardening and deep-rolling on the residual stresses in crankshafts
X-ray and neutron diffraction are used for residual stress analyses in the transition between roll and bearing of deep-rolled or induction hardened respectively deep-rolled and induction hardened crankshafts, The results of the investigations reveal a significant influence of the deep-rolling force and the hardening depth on the residual stress level and the residual stress distribution.
