In 2001 the new neutron research reactor FRM II at Garching near Munich will start operating. For this reactor the material science diffractometer STRESS-SPEC is under construction and will be optimised for residual stress investigations as well as for texture measurements. Before installing this new instrument at the thermal beamline SR3 in Catching it will be tested at the neutron research reactor BER II of the Hahn-Meitner-Institute in Berlin.
