The Enthalpies of Formation of Iodoethane, 1,2-Diiodoethane, 1,3-Diiodopropane, and 1,4-Diiodobutane
The standard molar enthalpies of formation at the temperature 298.15 K of iodoethane, 1,2-diiodoethane, 1,3-diiodopropane, and 1,4-diiodobutane have been measured by rotating combustion calorimetry. The following results were obtained : DELTA(f) H(m)degrees(C2H5I, 1) = -(39.1+/-0.8) kJ.mol-1; DELTA(f)H(m)degrees(C2H4I2, cr) = (9.3+/-0.8) kJ.mol-1; DELTA(f)H(m)degrees(C3H6I2, 1) = -(8.9+/-1.4) kJ.mol-1; DELTA(f)H(m)degrees(C4H8I2, 1)= -(30.0+/-2.0) kJ.mol-1. The results have been combined with the molar enthalpies of vaporization and sublimation to give the values for the gas phase.
