While capable of estimating diffusion-limited nucleation rates, Kelton's linked-flux model has no simple solution. To increase the model's usability, we simplify the model by retaining only the dominant nucleation path to obtain a series solution. The solution agrees well with the Kelton's model's predictions of the nucleation rate, and thus provides a simple estimate of diffusion-limited nucleation rates. (c) 2012 Elsevier B.V.
