Person-centered approach in environment and energy regeneration of the most decayed area in Ireland
Currently Korea is faced with crucial reality of paradigm shift from the simple physical redevelopment to holistic regeneration. While techniques and technologies of promoting energy efficiency and reducing costs have developed substantially, the end users who can also make a huge difference in increasing energy efficiency and reducing CO2, however, have not been actively considered as the other critical resource in achieving environmental regeneration. The purpose of this research is to delineate process characteristics of implementing the residents-friendly environment and energy strategy in transforming Ballymun, the most decayed area in Ireland, into environmentally sustainable community. For the content analysis, relevant articles in the newsletter of Ballymun were used. This research identified environmental management system as an energy solution, its evolution, ways to inform and educate residents in a person-centered approach, and a way of encouraging participation in civil society.
