Water Proton Relaxivity, Superoxide Dismutase-like Activity, and Cytotoxicity of a Manganese(III) Porphyrin Having Four Poly(ethylene glycol) Tails
A high-molecular-weight water-soluble manganese(111) porphyrin having four poly(ethylene glycol) tails was prepared, which enhanced the T-1 relaxation rate of water protons by ca. 7.5-fold compared with manganese(III)-tetra(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin. The new compound also exhibited superoxide dismutase-like activity and significantly lower cytotoxicity.
