Desaturation and/or Consolidation - Limits of Mechanical Deliquoring of Filter Cakes
The mechanical deliquoring of filter cakes can be realized either by reducing the pore volume, displacing the pore liquid with gas or by a combination of both processes. However, the mechanical deliquoring is physically limited. At the end of the deliquoring kinetics an equilibrium state is reached. In the presented paper the state of the art regarding the methods of measuring the limits of mechanical deliquoring and their interconnections are summarized, the related laboratory techniques are described, still open questions are formulated and technical examples are given.
