Eight alkylimidazolium salts were used for curing butediene-styrene elastomer to study the vulcanization kinetics, crosslinks d. and mech. properties of the vulcanizates. Use of the ionic liqs. resulted in accelerating the curing rate but also in increasing the resistance of the rubber vulcanizates against UV and thermal aging.
