Photocrosslinking of Fullerene Vesicles that Prevents Phase Transition and Decreases Water Permeation
A bilayer vesicle made of pentasubstituted [60]fullerene anions was photocrosslinked under aerobic conditions. The crosslinked bilayer became watertight because the crosslinking suppressed the phase transition of the bilayer, reduced the mobility of the fullerene molecules, and hence, reduced the speed of water permeation through the bilayer.
