Experimental and Numerical Investigation on the Separation Efficiency of Metal Filter Media in Consideration of Particle Bounce
Adhesion or rebound strongly influences the separation and storage of solid particles in the field of gas cleaning. Thus, based on literature data of single fiber investigations, particle rebound of polystyrene particles off metal wire meshes and metal fiber nonwovens is examined experimentally. The experimental data are used to adapt the parameters of a calculation equation and to validate simulations considering particle rebound. The results show that the grade efficiency of different filter media can be predicted with both methods.
