Propylene Oligomerization to Produce Diesel Fuel on Zr-ZSM-5 Catalyst
Zr-ZSM-5 catalyst, obtained by partial isomorphic substitution of aluminum in ZSM-5 zeolite by zirconium, was used to produce diesel fuel via propylene oligomerization. Partial incorporation of Zr into the zeolite yielded a catalyst with moderate acidity and medium pore size, leading to improvement in the catalytic properties of Zr-ZSM-5 in the propylene oligomerization reaction. Optimal oligomerization conditions were temperature 260A degrees C, pressure 4 MPa, and hourly space velocity 1 h(-1), resulting in liquid yield 87.65% and diesel selectivity 61.28%. Evaluation of Zr-ZSM-5 stability showed that propylene conversion remains at about 80% during 200 h of continuous operation.
