Protonation Constants of Amino-Acids in Artificial Sea-Water at 25-Degrees-C
In this paper we study the ionic strength dependence of the potentiometrically determined stoichiometric equilibrium constant (K*) of the amino acids a-alanine (CH3CHNH2COOH), leucine ((CH3)(2)CHCH2CKNH2COOH), threonine (CH3CHOHCHNH2COOH), and methionine (CH3SCH2CH2CHNH(2)COOH) in artificial sea water at 25 degrees C and different ionic strengths. The results have been interpreted by the Pitzer interaction model.
