Luminescent properties of Na2CaSiO4:Eu2+ and its potential application in white light emitting diodes
A novel blue phosphor Na2CaSiO4:Eu2+ is synthesized by a high temperature solid-state reaction, and its luminescent properties are systematically studied. Na2CaSiO4:Eu2+ can be effectively excited by the 354 nm radiation, and create blue emission (436 nm). The emission intensity of Na2CaSiO4:Eu2+ is influenced by the Eu2+ doping content, and the optimal doping content is 1.5%, and the concentration quenching mechanism of Eu2+ in Na2CaSiO4 can be attributed to the multipolar interaction. The white light with CIE coordinates (0.332, 0.346) is generated by mixing the blue phosphor Na2CaSiO4:Eu2+ with the yellow phosphor Li2SrSiO4:Eu2+. The results indicate that Na2CaSiO4:Eu2+ may be a potential blue emitting phosphor for UV chip-based multi-phosphor converted white light emitting diodes. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
