Melamine polyphosphate (MPP) and borate (MB) were synthesized and used as fire retardants in blends with ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymers (25% and 10%, resp.) and with pentaerithritol. The addn. of MPP and MB together resulted in increasing the fire retardant effect and decreasing the smoke formation during burning.
