Activity and selectivity of supported palladium catalysts modified with iron in the reaction of 2,4-dichlorophenol hydrodechlorination in liquid phase
SiO2 and Al2O3 substrates were impregnated with PdCl2 or Pd(NO)(2) and/or Fe(NO)(3) solns. and used for hydrodechlorination of 2,4-dichlorophenol in liq. phase at room temp. Bimetallic Pd-Fe/SiO2 and Pd-Fe/Al2O2 catalysts contg. 5% by mass of Pd and 1-20% by mass of Fe showed high activity and high selectivity to PhOH. According to the CO chemisorption data, the Pd-Fe/Al2O3 catalysts showed a higher dispersion of active phase and lower selectivity to PhOH that the Pd-Fe/SiO2 systems. The addn. of humic acids resulted in an increase in the stability of Pd-Fe/SiO2 systems as compared with Pd-Fe/Al2O3 ones. In some cases, in the presence of humic acid, leaching of Fe to reaction mixt. was observed. Existence of the oxide forms of Fe on the surface of bimetallic systems was confirmed.
