Effect of the base oil and thickener composition on the performance characteristics of greases
Three corn. synthetic base oils were thickened (18% by mass) with mixts. of Li 12-hydroxystearate and Li adipate to lubricating greases and studied for structural, physicochem. and tribolog. properties. The greases based on the polyester oil showed the highest oxidative stability. Use of the hydrocarbon oil resulted in the highest antiwear resistance of the greases. It increased with the increasing content of Li adipate in the thickener.
