Effect of the addition of the methylcellulose to ceramic slurry on the properties of the casting ceramic moulds
Three citric acid and diammonium citrate-liquified Y2O3-stabilized ZrO2 slurries were modified by addn. of 4 Me cellulose (mol. mass 14000-320000) binders, studied for rheolog. properties and then formed as test pieces by sintering at 1400-1600 degrees C. The ceramic samples were studied before and after sintering for apparent d., porosity, pore size distribution and tensile strength. The highest d. and mech. strength before sintering was obsd. for ceramic samples contg. Me cellulose of mol. mass 88000. The samples modified with Me cellulose of mol. mass 14000 showed the highest tensile strength after sintering.
