Montmorillonite was intercalated with poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) and glycerol in aq. dispersion and used as a filler for butadiene-nitrile rubber. After vulcanization, the rubber was studied for viscoelastic properties (complex modulus and phase shift angle between the strain and stress). The dynamic characteristics of the rubber was better than that of a C black-filled rubber studied for comparison.
