Studies on the rate of extraction of zinc(II) and iron (Ill) from chloride systems with Cyphos (R) IL 101 quaternary phosphonium salt
Zn(II) and Fe(III) extn. equil. and extn. rate were examd. in systems contg. trihexyl(tetradecyl)phosphonium chloride by using Lewis cell and single drop method. The Zn and Fe complexes were transferred into the org. phase. Mass fluxes and mass-transfer coeffs. were detd. by using the boundary layer theory. The reactions were first order with respect to the metals. The extn. rate consts. were 3745 and 74900 L/(mol.s), resp.
