Economics of the stirred milling unit process has significantly improved by replacement of silica sand with ceramic media in IsaMills (TM). This paper demonstrates with laboratory scale trial results the effect of media density and friction coefficient on energy consumption in a M4 laboratory scale IsaMill (TM) in a two dimensional water and media environment, for several types of ceramic media.
