Effect of raw materials quality on the content of contaminations in raw phosphoric acid from the wet process
Transfer of Fe, Al, Mg, Cd, Ni and Cr from raw materials (phosphates, H(2)SO(4) from TiO(2) prodn., secondary deposits) to H(3)PO(4) product and phospho gypsum by-product was studied in industrial dihydrate wet prodn. process. Phosphates from Marocco, Togo, Jordan, Syria and Tunesia were used in the prodn. plant during the study. In all cases, the Al(2)O(3), Fe(2)O(3), MgO, Cd, Cr and Ni contents in the H(3)PO(4) product increased with increasing the global load with the impurities in the raw materials. The relationships were described with polynonial equations. The concns. of impurities in H(3)PO(4) were substantially higher than in the phosphogypsum.
