Peculiarities of mechanochemical activation of MoO3 with respect to catalytic processing of bioethanol
Com. MoO3 was ground in air in a planetary mill (Si3N4 balls) for 0.5-16 h optionally by using H2O or EtOH as dispersing agents. The milling resulted in a change of cryst. structure of MoO3 and catalytic activity in oxidn. of EtOH. The catalyst milled in H2O showed a high selectivity to CH2=CH2 (85%) while the catalyst milled in air yielded AcH (97%).
