Enzymatic degradation of chitosan with lysozyme or cellulase
Low mol. mass chitosan was enzymically hydrolyzed with lysozyme and cellulase in soln. of MeCH(OH)COOH (2%) at 25-45 degrees C for 1-48 h and processed to thin films (0.05 mm) studied for tensile strength and penetration resistance. The increase in the hydrolysis time and enzyme concn. resulted in a decrease of the chitosan soln. viscosity. The mech. properties of the films decreased after inactivation of enzymes and with increasing their activity.
