Experimental verification of a mathematical model of pressure swing adsorption
Biotechnol. EtOH (water content 10%) was dewatered by gas-phase adsorption on zeolite 3A pellet bed (0.293 m in height) at 100 degrees C under laboratory conditions in the adsorption-vacuum desorption-purge cycles up to the bed breakthrough in the third cycle. The max. water content in the pelllets after adsorption was 0.186 kg/kg, the min. one after desorption 0.104 kg/kg. The process was also described with a math. model based on mass and momentum balances and mass transfer kinetics. A good agreement between the calcd. data and exptl detd. ones was found.
