The comparison of methods for determination of active surface of copper catalysts
Five Cu catalysts for low-temperature shift reaction were studied for active surface area by pulse titration, reactive frontal chromatog., and temperature-programmed reduction. Additionally, the crystallite size was detd. by the X-ray diffraction method. The results obtained by the pulse titration at 20 degrees C well agreed with the results from the reactive frontal chromatog. The applicability of the gradientless Zielinski reactor for kinetic studies of catalysts was confirmed.
